This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is Top Ten Most Unique Books I’ve Read. So to me that could be any book I’ve felt has provided me with a story/plot element that I had never encountered before and had found completely ingenious, or a book that was narrated/structured in a new unheard of way.
1. The Harry Potter Series: I’m not gonna apologize for how many times the Harry Potter books have shown up in my Top Ten Tuesday posts, because that’s literally a testament to how much I love these books and how absolutely amazing they are in every way. I don’t think I even need to explain to you why these books are on my most unique list. And unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last 15 years or so, I don’t need to explain what they are about either.
2. The Arcana Chronicles by Kresley Cole: These books have an insane plot with a concept I never would have been able to come up with in a million years: all the characters on Tarot Cards are real and they battle each other every 100 years to the death (complete bizarro awesomeness, am I right?).
3. The Gone Series by Michael Grant: This apocalyptic syfy thriller series brings about a whole new concept on what defines adulthood and what it means to survive in a world that has turned against you in every way. The POVs jump all over the place yet still find a way to make sense and put together a story that will have you glued to the pages from start to finish.
4. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky: The narration in this book is beautiful and gave me all kinds of feels! I seriously loved this book, and without Charlie’s narration and the diary entry structure it would not have the same effect/impact on the reader.
5. The Lux Series by Jennifer Armentrout: And here would be another series that I won’t apologize for it showing up on so many of my Top Ten Tuesday posts. Anyway…the Lux Series creates an unique spin on alien relations and makes it enjoyable and addicting to read about. I have never read anything else like it!
6. Captured by Erica Stevens: This book took the most interesting approach on vampire romance books that I had read at the time by taking vampire/human relationships and creating beautiful chaos by placing it in a post apocalyptic setting.
7. All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill: Not only is this book an awesome time travel novel, but it has the most interesting narration ever by creating two different point of views from the same person. Only, one POV is from that person in the past, and the other POV is from that person in the future.
8. The White Rabbit Chronicles by Gena Showalter: Takes an Alice in Wonderland spinoff and clashes it with zombie hunting… a.k.a. beauty in a book.
9. The Host by Stephanie Meyer: Literally one of my all time favorite books, The Host takes alien invasion to an all new level and creates a wonderful narration between two characters sharing one body. There is nothing else quite like it in the Syfy genre.
10. The Ashes Trilogy by Ilsa J. Bick: Ashes makes for one of the eeriest apocalypse settings I have read about and is a thriller to the senses with its world that has all new rules, and death and deception that’s waiting behind every corner. The Ashes trilogy is one of my absolute favorite zombie series (if you can even call what she created out of the dead zombies).
