Hello readers!!! I’m so sorry that I’ve been gone for well over a year. I’ve been finishing the didactic portion of the Physical Therapy program at Northern Arizona University, and am waiting to begin my clinical rotations in July! Though I’m unsure what rotations may bring to my scheduling, I plan on consistently sharing and reviewing again! I missed it oh so much, and I hope you’ll forgive me for my hiatus. If you aren’t new to my blog, then you’ll find that I gave myself a facelift. I’m trying to start fresh and dive right back into bringing you reviews of books worth reading! So let’s start with a bang! What better way to start reviewing again than with a JLA review x2!!!
I’ve definitely read/listened to a good handful of books while I’ve been away and will probably be reviewing retrospectively in between current reviews. Since I just finished reading The Burning Shadow, I’ll only share the Goodreads summary for it.

Goodreads Summary of The Burning Shadow:
When Evelyn Dasher crossed paths with Luc, she was thrown headfirst into the world of the Lux—only to discover that she was already far more involved in their world than she ever suspected.
Because the Luxen aren’t the only ones with a hidden past. There’s a gap in Evie’s memory, lost months of her life and a lingering sense that something happened, something she can’t remember and nobody is willing to tell her. She needs to find out the truth about who she is—and who she was. But every answer she finds only brings up more questions.
Her search for the truth brings her ever closer to Luc, the Origin at the center of it all. He’s powerful, arrogant, inhumanly beautiful, extremely dangerous…and possibly in love with her. But even as Evie falls for him, she can’t help but wonder if his attraction is to her, or to the memory of a girl who no longer exists.
And all the while, a new threat looms: reports of a flu-like, fatal virus that the government insists is being spread by Luxen. A horrifying illness that changes whoever it touches, spreading panic across a country already at its breaking point.
#1 New York Times, USA Today, and internationally bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout returns to the world of the Lux with this steamy, shocking second installment of the Origin series that will leave readers reeling.
The Origin series is a spin off series of the beloved Lux series, and I have to say, if you haven’t read The Lux series, first of all YOU’RE DOING IT WRONG! Secondly, you absolutely should read it first prior to this series, otherwise you’re bound to be confused.
If you’ve read The Lux books before, then you know who Luc is, that snarky teenager who happens to somehow be the owner of a night club and who also happens to be a crazy powerful Origin. These books center around the perspective of Evie Dasher, a teenage girl who ends up in the wrong club at the wrong time and finds herself coming face to face with Luc. This series begins following the Luxen invasion, so she is fully aware that there are Luxen among the humans, but has no idea that there are other alien lifeforms too. Before Evie knows it, she’s getting dragged into the life of Origins and learns that her world isn’t entirely what she thought it was. Secrets come out, the truth is revealed, nothing is what it seems, and the questions just keep on coming.
Naturally, true to the JLA nature, a brewing connection forms between Evie and Luc, and it’s intense and all consuming. Evie isn’t quite ready to admit it to herself though, but ohhhh boy just wait for book two!
Overall, The Darkest Star was a wonderful beginning of what is sure to be a fantastic spin off to the Lux books.
The Burning Shadow was even more tumultuous than the first book, and oh so jam packed full of suspense and fiery romance. It begins right from where book one left off. This one will leave you with all sorts of feels though! And the burning questions (pun intended) that you’ve had since the beginning are truly answered once and for all. Although, I will say the main reveal was a bit predictable (parts of book one were as well), it was still a cool twist nevertheless. And did I mention that the characters from The Lux series make appearances throughout both books??? It was like being called home reading about Kat and Daemon again and seeing where everyone was at in their relationships/little families * girly sigh*.
Jennifer Armentrout has mastered the talent of creating amazingly lovable characters full of snark, charm, and depth. You’ll be looking forward to each new page! Book two ended with a cliff hanger (also true to the JLA name), and unfortunately, book three: The Brightest Night won’t be out till October 20th *cries silently*.
I highly recommend you start The Origin Series and if you have but haven’t gotten to book two yet, it’s even better than the first!
