My Review

I had heard nothing but amazing things about Maybe Someday and knew I had to get my hands on it as my next CoHo read. Thankfully one of my lovely Bookstagram friends gifted me a copy, so the time to read it came sooner than expected! And true to Colleen Hoover’s nature, this romance was unlike any I’ve read before! I’m going to give you guys a spoil free review but it absolutely has twists that you won’t see coming!

This story alternates between the POVs of Sydney and Ridge who form an unexpected bond while writing music together. And naturally, they form a blossoming romance despite trying everything in their power to resist it. One of the most incredible aspects about this book is that Colleen Hoover worked with a musician to actually create the songs they wrote so that you can listen to the songs as they appear in the story! Like how freaking cool is that?!

The only reason I didn’t give this book five stars is because of the certain aspects of the love triangle that I feel could be really triggering for some people. And though I understand why things went down the way they did, it was still sad to see who gets hurt. Regardless, Maybe Someday was heartbreakingly beautiful, brought me to tears (also typical of CoHo) and I highly recommend it!

Review: Layla by Colleen Hoover

Goodreads Summary:

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover comes a novel that explores life after tragedy and the enduring spirit of love.

When Leeds meets Layla, he’s convinced he’ll spend the rest of his life with her—until an unexpected attack leaves Layla fighting for her life. After weeks in the hospital, Layla recovers physically, but the emotional and mental scarring has altered the woman Leeds fell in love with. In order to put their relationship back on track, Leeds whisks Layla away to the bed-and-breakfast where they first met. Once they arrive, Layla’s behavior takes a bizarre turn. And that’s just one of many inexplicable occurrences.

Feeling distant from Layla, Leeds soon finds solace in Willow—another guest of the B&B with whom he forms a connection through their shared concerns. As his curiosity for Willow grows, his decision to help her find answers puts him in direct conflict with Layla’s well-being. Leeds soon realizes he has to make a choice because he can’t help both of them. But if he makes the wrong choice, it could be detrimental for all of them.

My Review

Colleen Hoover does it again folks! Layla is definitely not one to be missed! The story is told from the perspective of Leeds. Following a traumatic incident, he is willing to try anything to get his relationship with his girlfriend Layla back to the way things used to be. However, he soon finds himself in situation not of this world!

If you’re looking for a story with a little bit of spook factor that will keep you guessing, this is the one for you! Hoover always seems to write in a way that instantly draws the reader in. This stand alone flew by let me tell ya! And though I somehow guessed the major plot twist halfway through ( believe me, this never happens), my mind was still blown and I remained on the edge of my seat til the very end!

Layla was unlike any other paranormal romance story I’ve read before which it made it all the more captivating! If you’re a Colleen Hoover fan or not, I highly recommend!!

Can Ben’s relationship with Fallon—and simultaneously his novel—be considered a love story if it ends in heartbreak?

Beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover returns with an unforgettable love story between a writer and his unexpected muse

My Review

I listened to Novemeber 9 on audio back in March, and OH MY GOODNESS what a ride!!! Colleen Hoover is on a whole other level when it comes to writing. She literally knows how to take you on the most wild emotional ride in a way that no other author ever has (my review of Verity to come *hint hint*).

November 9 is written from the perspectives of Ben and Fallon, two people who come from very different worlds but find themselves totally intertwined in one another’s lives in the most unexpected way. Unfortunately, these two meet the night before Fallon is about to fly off to New York to pursue an acting career. However, they are both so enthralled by one another from the very beginning, that they make a promise to each other to meet on the same date every year from then on. Ben even plans to use Fallon’s life as the focus of his novel. As the years pass, their lives and their love get more and more complicated, and Fallon becomes not entirely sure that Ben’s motives behind his novel are genuine.

This book was unlike anything I’d ever read before. Colleen Hoover used time jumps so creatively in a way that didn’t make you feel like you were missing content because of the gaps. When I first started it, I remember thinking “how the hell is this going to be a good romance if they only see each other one day a year??” Well, it most definitely was! This book was heartbreakingly beautiful. No other way to describe it. It was awesome to see the characters grow and evolve over time in a way that didn’t feel too slow or too rushed.  There was just enough information given on the days they met and on the time in between to make the story flow smoothly. To top it off, November 9 had an incredible mind blowing ending that I absolutely did not see coming!

If you are looking for a great stand alone contemporary romance, I highly recommend November 9. It reads quick and will captivate your heart.

Review: Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

17788401

Goodreads Summary:

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

My Review

Believe it or not but this is actually the first ever Colleen Hoover book that I’ve read!! That is practically blasphemous I know! And boy oh boy do I see what I was missing out on now!! Holy crap this book was good!! Hoover has a way with romance novels, or so I had been told, and that is definitely no exaggeration. I’m actually going to her book signing event in two weeks in Phoenix and I am so so excited for it!

Ugly Love was entirely unique in that its two perspectives took place in two different timelines. One focused on the life of Tate, an RN who has just temporarily moved in with her brother while she gets her Masters and attempts to find an apartment of her own. The other perspective follows Miles (the boy in the apartment across the hall), only his perspective is one from 6 years in the past! Wild right?! Miles also happens to be one of Tate’s brother’s coworkers. He has always been aloof from love for reasons that very few are privy to. However, right from the start there is an attraction between Miles and Tate, and before they know it, they’re falling in to an intense yet tumultuous friends with benefits situation. Miles has two rules though, don’t ask about his past, and don’t expect a future.

The title of this book could not possibly be any more accurate! It was so very clear that the feelings between Miles and Tate were so much more than physical. Unfortunately for Tate, every time she tried to break through Miles walls, she was forcibly cast out. It was heartbreaking, and as time went on, I kept finding myself thinking, girl you deserve better, drop his ass, but then he would play mind games with her and she would go right back. It made sense really. And as events played out, and the truth was revealed, my heart utterly broke for Miles. He had every right to feel the way he did. He had every right to create a love that was so ugly with Tate.

This book brought forth all the feels at all the right times, and the ending absolutely brought me to tears. I could not have been more pleased. I had a wonderful first experience with a Colleen Hoover novel, and I can’t wait to get my hands on more!! I most definitely recommend you read this book!
