Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Bookish Things I’d Do if I had More Time & Money

This meme is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

So this week is pretty cool, because it’s a FREEBIE!! So I decided to talk about what is basically my bookish bucketlist/dreams/wishlist if I had money and time for it at this point in my life. I’m a week into my first clinical rotation and have lots of piling student loans and only some extra time on my hands for now while I don’t have to study for my board exam just yet (that won’t be til the end of January 2021). I also realize that these are totally wants, and not needs, but hey, that’s why I’m working my a** off now in Physical Therapy School so that these dreams can become a reality some day.

Screen Shot 2020-07-26 at 4.52.02 PM

1. Own a full TBR Cart: I see these all over bookstagram, and I’M OBSESSED! Unfortunately the blush one that is $30 at Michaels is already sold out! Especially because it was on my upcoming birthday list! Le sigh. They’re just so pretty, it definitely adds to a library room.

2. Have my own WordPress Domain: I would love to pay the yearly fee so that I can have my own domain name without the “wordpress” logo at the end, and have the additional features that come with having the fancier wordpress page too.

200

3. Buy new bookshelves: I desperately need new shelves, or at least to replace one of the two shelves I have. They currently don’t match one another and are both used, one looks brand new, the other, has seen better days lol.

4. String up bookmarks on my shelves: This is something I also see all over Bookstagram and love how they look on shelves, but I need to find kite string or ribben or something so I can do it myself. Anyone have advice on the best way to do it? I only have a handful of magnetic bookmarks (like 10 maybe), but I am determined to slowly grow it and get the string up.

5. Get picture editing app subscriptions: Unfortunately, all the best editing apps have subscriptions in order to give you access to more features. Not cool I say! I am not about to pay for every app just so I can get access to the one feature I like that the subscription gives, but I’d like to at least get the VSCO one and maybe one other.

6. Own all 3 sizes of booksleeves: There are just reasons to have each size, am I wrong?? I only have one size booksleeve currently and it’s a large one, so it’s annoying to take a bigger one than is necessary places #firstworldproblems. It’d also be nice to just have others for going on trips when multiple books are required too.

75365f481b37d9d658630e761b871c1b

7. Buy a nice reading chair: Ain’t this every bookworm’s dream though?? I dream of the day when I can have my own little library room (currently my boyfriend and I have combined our nerd room into one big fandom room), with the perfect reading chair under a big window for natural lighting and bookshelves covering one full wall minimum.

8. Go to Book Conventions: I just want to meet authors so I can fangirl, get books signed, buy merch and then the end!

9. Fly to meet Authors on Tour: It still kills me that I wasn’t able to meet Jennifer Armentrout when she came to Arizona because I was in PT school. Damn education ruining things left and right! Lord knows when she’ll come back again, but regardless, few big-time authors make their stop in AZ, so I’d love to be able to fly or drive to any of the surrounding states to meet some of my favorite authors!

Harry-Potter-covers

10. Buy The Nerdy Ink HP Dust Jackets: Are these not gorgeous?! I want them sooo bad, but they are going to be near impossible to get once they restock in November, so I hear anyway. I also have no idea how much they cost, and would most certainly have to find another set of  used HP books to display the new jackets separately. So this would be quite the undertaking, but my determination is strong!

Well there ya have it folks, after writing this post, I’ve basically realized that… I WANT ALL THE THINGS! I wish I could easily post that head smacking emoji next to that statement, but oh well.

What would you include on your list? I’d love to know!

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books That Make Me Smile

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl

So most of these are basically the entire series not a single book, because when I think about the series as a whole, I get all giddy inside. I’m going to include books from my childhood in here as well, because they still just make me smile from the nostalgia of it, and honestly, I’ve been wanting to reread some of them!

The Princess Bride: My all time favorite movie, reading the book is like playing the complete movie in my head. All the best lines are in it too!

ACOTAR series but in particular, A Court of Mist and Fury: Oh my goodness, be still my beating heart, falling in love with Rhysand in this story always makes me smile

The Frog Princess series:  I just remember this being one of those happy series that I loved growing up, I still own some of the books and would love to reread them because  they’re just so darn cute!

Dealing with Dragons: Another series I loved as a kid, it was probably my first experience with books about dragons and it was seriously awesome! I own the series still and have got to reread them!

Obsidian, but really the entire Lux Series because the whole thing makes my heart happy: “holy alien babies,” the banter, Daemon Black, the story, Daemon Black. I am so in love with this series!! This one goes down in history for me.

The Premonition Series (Center picture): Yet another series in my top category, so intense, unique, and steamy!

Alice in Zombieland/Entire White Rabbit Chronicles : It’s just a wonderfully done series, that will always be special to me. I remember sneaking reading these books during high school and during work because I was so engrossed in them.

Throne of Glass (entire series): Just wow with these books, what a journey! This series is wild and is easily in my top 10. They are unlike anything you’ll ever read!

Harry Potter (Particularly book 7, but I smile through all of these): Harry Potter  literally made my childhood. I can’t imagine my life without it. I will probably be rereading these books til the day I die. And I look forward to reading it to my future kids some day.

The Host: This one just really stands out for me as a totally underrated book that I remember reading on two different occasions and being utterly in love with both times!

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Authors I’ve Read the Most Books By

This meme is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s theme is Top Ten Authors I’ve Read the Most Books by. I don’t have a full ten again this weeks, whoops. I guess that means I need to step my game up when it comes to reading more books by authors I love. Since I’ve been obsessed with PicMonkey lately, I decided to switch up my format this week. JLA is by far my favorite of these, if you couldn’t tell lol! I’m currently reading From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout, and I’ve got books pre-ordered by JLA, Colleen Hoover, and Sarah J. Maas, so these lists will continue to grow.

Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of 2020

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I certainly don’t have 10 but oh well. I am so behind on the latest releases from the past three years. That kind of makes me happy though because it’s so much easier to not have to wait for the next book in a series to come out. So there’s a silver lining for ya!

Layla by Colleen Hoover (Releasing Dec 8, 2020): So this is her first paranormal romance book and I am SO excited!!! I have never not enjoyed one of her books and had to pre-order this one when I found out! Sad it doesn’t release til December though 😦

The Brightest Night (Origin #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout (Releasing Oct 20, 2020): Another book I had to pre-order as soon as I was done with book two! I cannot wait to continue this awesome story!

We Were Restless Things by Cole Vagamatsu (Releasing Oct 6, 2020):  I actually was recently given an ARC on Netgalley for this one and plan to read it very very soon! The plot sounds awesome!

Top Ten Tuesday Turns 10: Top Ten Most Binge-worthy TV Shows (An Updated list)

So this week’s Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl  is a special one because the meme is turning 10 years old! So she has given us the option of redoing/updating a past Top Ten Tuesday or doing one that we never got to do in the first place. Since I’ve watched more tv than I have read books over the past few years, I thought I’d update my tv show one. It was hard to feel the energy to read before bed when you’re in a rigorous doctoral program lol! Some of the shows from the original post made the list again, because they were just that good, but there are mostly new ones…which either makes me a very pathetic person that I’ve watched so many shows in 6 years (most of these I’ve rewatched a complete second time as well since 2014), or makes me super impressive that I somehow found the time to do so. You decide!

Check out my original post from 2014

I’ll list them in no particular order (outside of the first two) since I can’t fully decide how to order these.

My Top Ten Most Binge-worthy TV Shows

b4ERr2LQcbAMctgTpJVA2B

Friends: Are you even surprised??? I’m ashamed to admit that I didn’t fully watch Friends from start to finish until early 2018. I had seen episodes on and off for years but finally got invested and got hooked, then proceeded to watch the entire show another time through, a year after the fact. These characters just easily find a way into your heart and it’s just a show I will probably always be attached to.

1_ZVPJUG_Khy1SYjAaJFF3QQ

The Office: Another show I was late to the game on and started in 2017, and have also watched a second time through since. Friends and The Office are the top feel good shows for sure! I also always like to think that my boyfriend and I are Jim and Pam. We  gradually fell in love while working together, he fell for me first, and we both admired from afar until the truth came out and that was all she wrote. Almost two and a half years later, we’re living together and I couldn’t be happier. I got him into The Office a little over a year ago and now he’s obsessed too.

avatar-the-last-airbender-poster

Avatar: The Last Airbender: It’s funny because I’m currently in the midst of my third complete rewatch since the series ended on TV. I own it on DVD too because it’s truly just that incredible and I had to have it. My love for Avatar has been reignited all over again, it never gets old for me. I still laugh at all the jokes and feel every emotion I remember feeling when I first watched it on TV as a kid.

market

New Girl: Another show I rewatched this past year, the characters are just so damn lovable!

MV5BMzZjNmRhNWQtNTAyYy00Yjk2LWE0NzUtMmYyNTU0YTE5NjJiXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNjI4OTE5OTM@._V1_UY1200_CR105,0,630,1200_AL_

Fairy Tail: Sorry not sorry for including an anime in this list, but OH. MY. I could probably go on and on for hours about why Fairy Tail is the best anime out there and about the emotional damage it has caused me over the past 6 years lol! I only recently was able to finally watch the last season after rewatching the entire show to fully refresh for it. Yes it has over 300 episodes, and yes I did wish there were 300 more! I have had the biggest show hangover since finishing the last season a month ago.

Supernatural-supernatural-30545991-1680-1050

Supernatural: Another repeat from the OG list, because this show will never not be one of my all time favorites/obsessions! There’s a reason it’s been on for 15 years and has one of the best fan bases out there! I’m going to be utterly shattered when it ends this Fall.

psych-tv-shows-coming-to-netflix-in-may-2014

Psych: This one made the list again because I’ve also rewatched it since the original list. It’s just such a ridiculous show but so much fun from start to finish.

268x0w

Game of Thrones: Despite the abhorrent season finale, Game of Thrones is unlike any other and up until the last season, I was completely in love with it.

118568992

The Big Bang Theory: I still haven’t seen the last 3 or 4 seasons, but I absolutely die of laughter every time I put it on. I’m determined to buy the new HBO streaming platform so I can rewatch it from the beginning and finally watch the final seasons.

AAAABaoKhbW09uWY9zsESnNXuqzJ_Q-UW3HoObV9Np3V4sv4jI_wHmpmU0gdMFKUaGT4ALiUO5cQn29ftVbTJZWnOL1wtuKA-8ec2840

Schitt’s Creek: My boyfriend and I literally watched this on a whim one night on Netflix, loved it, finished it and then like a month later realized it had suddenly become popular everywhere. It’s another one of those totally ridiculous shows that sucks you in!

Well that’s it for my Top Ten Binge-worthy TV Shows! Have you guys seen any of these? What are your thoughts?

About Adamantine:

Deep in the Appalachian Mountains, a brilliant scientist and his daughter retreat from a catastrophic global plague. His creation, Will, is bestowed with an expansive intellect, superhuman strength, and a fierce protective streak. However, as year go by, Will’s feelings start to change from duty and service to something more.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books on My Summer 2020 TBR

This meme is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl!

I realize I have not participated in this meme in FOREVER, but I plan on posting them on and off still because they’re just too fun! I don’t have ten to list here because I know there’s no way I’ll be able to physically get through that many in so short a time frame with my clinical rotations starting up soon, but I’ll list what I’ll hopefully be able to get done in the next three months. I also realize that none of these books scream summer lol!

I’m hoping to get a good start on The Iron Fey series this Summer! I’ve had book one for years, and found the rest of the series at Bookman’s this weekend, so I’m super excited to jump in!

I’m ashamed to admit I haven’t read The Raven Cycle series yet, especially considering that I LOVED The Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater!

Exclusive Excerpt:

Fatigue lines circled James Walkers eyes and forehead; dry canals of wrinkled flesh ran down the sides of his face. A flood of light washed over him, flickering ever so often. He found himself hissing at that inconvenience before resuming his examination. James spent months inspecting every piece of hardware and taking voice notes—he was ready to proceed.

“James Walker, Ph.D.,” he said into the recorder. “After meticulous examination that produced minor wins and fails, everything seems to be in order. The mechanism is responsive. I’m proceeding to the next step—implementation. Cooling systems have taken to the previous modifications, refer to doc-234. Internal examinations will continue intermittently.”

James clicked off the recorder and sighed. He walked across the room and paused inches from his destination, letting his eyes scan the table and its contents. The thin, silicone-based polymer suit reflected the soft light in the room. The project was close to completion and when he thought of what was at stake, the usual litany of questions and doubts arose. He scratched his stubble and pushed aside thoughts of consequence. He knew all too well that one wrong move might bring down his research like a flimsy deck of cards.

“Positivity doesn’t exist in the realm of fringe science, but you have to try,” he muttered under his breath. Those words fueled James, who focused on the most favorable outcome.

The augmented bio-hybrid suit had muscles, tendons, and ligaments designed to replicate the human body—an exact replica. He rolled the table close to the gurney then proceeded to couple the parts together. It took thirty minutes of concentrated effort to get the body sheathed. James took a step back and admired his masterpiece. It reminded him of a Renaissance anatomical painting he once saw in a museum. A smile tugged at the corner of his lips, but he wiped it away with the back of his hand. He attached a transfusion tube to the small glass cylinder filled with dense liquid. He injected the mixture into the body’s cervical vertebrae. Spider-like microscopic nanocells hurried down the spine and spread into the hybrid suit. The muscle tissues expanded and solidified over the impenetrable frame underneath.

James watched the process unfold. His heart beat in double time, eager to move to the next phase. The pulsating vibe in his ears synced with his anxiety. He ambled to a wall lined with metal cabinets and retrieved the synthetic skin from its compartment. At the table, he arranged them over the entire body like a giant jigsaw puzzle. He watched the panels of skin adhere to one another. His hands imprisoned within his pockets to resist the urge to touch. Soon, skin covered the mechanical suit and a man lay in its place. The transformation was a success.

BOOK BLURB:

You know those little girls who dress up as Disney princesses in the bright, shimmery costumes and dream about their prince rescuing them?

That was never me.

In this story, it’s the witch who saves the prince.

Ever since I joined the Wicked Society, my tarot readings are always about sacrifice for the greater good and martyrdom. In other words, any day now I’m going to lose something or someone I love. Evidently, my spirit guides are the ride or die types.

For years, I’ve asked the cards the same question about my crush. Will Tate Winthrop fall in love with me? The answer is always someday.

As in someday Tate will love me back.

Someday there won’t be a group of witches using dark magic to destroy our coven.

Someday I’ll stop having the same dream about a handsome prince with long blond dreadlocks kissing a woman wearing a sparkly, poofy, ball gown.

Someday my witch will come.

This is book two in the Wicked Society series of interconnected lighthearted paranormal romances with a cozy mystery twist.
