Review: Lucky in Love by Kasie West

Goodreads Summary:

Can’t buy me love…

Maddie’s not impulsive. She’s all about hard work and planning ahead. But one night, on a whim, she buys a lottery ticket. And then, to her astonishment—

She wins!

In a flash, Maddie’s life is unrecognizable. No more stressing about college scholarships. Suddenly, she’s talking about renting a yacht. And being in the spotlight at school is fun…until rumors start flying, and random people ask her for loans. Now Maddie isn’t sure who she can trust.

Except for Seth Nguyen, her funny, charming coworker at the local zoo. Seth doesn’t seem aware of Maddie’s big news. And, for some reason, she doesn’t want to tell him. But what will happen if he learns her secret?

My Review

I didn’t have super high expectations for Lucky in Love, but I had hoped that I would at least enjoy it a little more. Unfortunately, it was about as mediocre as a high school romance can possibly get. I was definitely hesitant when I read the description. An 18 year old girl wins the lottery and her whole life changes, but during all of the money madness, she still finds herself falling in love with the cute boy she works with. Cheesy right? Well yup, it sure was.

There was nothing wholly exciting about this book. Everything that happened was just so  completely predictable. I really wanted events to play out differently. I thought, maybe they will make this story ablout more than a teenager winning a bunch of money, getting in over her head, and ruining the relationships around her. But nope, that just about happens. SPOILER ALERT. Not that you weren’t thinking it already right?

I had heard fairly good things about Kasie West’s P.S. I Like You, so I thought I would give this one a try after receiving it as a gift. Unfortunately, this makes me super reluctant to give that book a try now. Any thoughts on this author and her other work? I wish I could recommend Lucky in Love to readers, but all I can really give it, is that it was a quick read. It’s a good in-between book, but otherwise it’s not much to be excited about.

Buy it on Amazon here, if you are so inclined lol.
