Review: Sweet Peril (The Sweet Series #2) by Wendy Higgins

Goodreads Summary:

Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

My Review

Sweet Peril brought with it just as large of an emotional ride as the first book only this one packed a lot more excitement! Now that Anna is fully involved in the world in Nephilim she must accept where her path leads her next. When news of a prophecy promises hope for the Nephilim and change for the world as she knows it, Anna soon finds herself traveling across the world to find allies in her battle for a new way of life for the children of Demons.

I have to say, I definitely enjoyed book two more than Sweet Evil. There was so much more happening in this book, more to be concerned and enthralled by! And did I mention new characters?! The romance lulled in the beginning but oh man the climatic peak made the lull so worth it!! Finally what I needed to happen between Kaidan and Anna happened! Don’t worry folks!! It was about time they overcame their differences and realized what was most important! I love how fiercely they care for one another even if they don’t ever quite admit, but hints of that show in this book. There was a lot more suspense in this second installment that kept me thoroughly interested all the way through! Book two was a vast improvement in my opinion.

I will most definitely be reading the next book and am looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I have quite the line up of books that need reading until then, *sigh*. So many books, so little time….
