Since coming to Crossroads, Oklahoma, former outcast Aden Stone has been living the good life. Never mind that one of his best friends is a werewolf, his girlfriend is a vampire princess who hungers for his blood, and he’s supposed to be crowned Vampire King—while still a human! Well, kind of.
With four—oops, three now—human souls living inside his head, Aden has always been “different” himself. These souls can time-travel, raise the dead, possess another’s mind and, his least favorite these days, tell the future.
The forecast for Aden? A knife through the heart.
Because a war is brewing between the creatures of the dark, and Aden is somehow at the center of it all. But he isn’t about to lie down and accept his destiny without a fight. Not when his new friends have his back, not when Victoria has risked her own future to be with him, and not when he has a reason to live for the first time in his life….
Unraveled picked up literally right where Intertwined left off. Recap: Aden defeated Dmitri and is now the new king of the vampires, the death sentence over Aden and his friends, put there by the witches, still stands, and they have mere days to figure out where the meeting is in order to save their lives.
Now that book one is under the belt, I expected book two to have a lot more plot movement, a lot more excitement, and well…a lot more. Keep in mind that book two is substantially thicker than the first, coming in at a whomping 572 pages. Let me tell ya, half these pages could have been straight up eliminated. Don’t get me wrong, some good stuff happens in this book, but overall most of the content was unnecessary fluff with a few important points thrown in. A lot more questions were made and not nearly as many answers were given.
Then we get to the parallel romances: Aden and Victoria’s relationship grows in strength whilst (much to my dismay) Riley and Mary Ann’s relationship takes quite a few steps back. A big reveal regarding who Mary Ann is occurs that left me baffled and in need of the real truth! It also proves rather desolate for her relationship with Riley (hence the dismay). Of course I still have hope for them and am expecting it to get sorted in book three.
The ending of Unraveled, was by far the most suspenseful, though certain aspects of it were sped up a little too quickly for my liking. However, the ending moments of the story were totally unexpected, and altogether insane! So…due to all the unanswered questions, and the cliffhanger, I know that I’m going to have to read book three, even if I was disappointed with Unraveled. Fingers crossed that book three, titled: Twisted reveals more of why what happened happened and how they are going to fix it!
I would recommend you read book two of Intertwined (if you’ve read book one that is) if only to get you to book three…
