Eighteen-year-old Kricket Hollowell was looking for her place in the world when she discovered that the universe was bigger—and more dangerous—than she had ever dreamed. Now, whisked across space to the planet Ethar, Kricket learns that her genetic ability to see the future makes her a sought-after commodity…and the catalyst for war between her star-crossed parents’ clans. According to Alameedan prophecy, one house will rise to power and the other will be completely wiped out, and Kricket’s precognition is believed to be the weapon that will tip the scales.
A target of both the Rafe and the Alameeda houses, Kricket finds protection—and a home—in the arms of Trey, her Etharian bodyguard-turned-boyfriend. But her visions of what’s to come disturb her deeply, especially since she must discover whether the gift of foresight will allow her to rewrite the future, or if her fate is as immovable as the stars.
I waited so long for this book to come out, and I was more than excited to finally get my hands on it!! Unfortunately, I did not realize how long it had been since I read the first book until I actually began to read the second and found myself not remembering quite a bit of the content! I can tell you right now, that I know I should have reread Under Different Stars (Kricket #1) before I picked up book two, so that’s just a warning to all y’all if it’s been a while since you’ve read book one and are wanting to read book two (it had been almost a year and half for me though). Nevertheless, I definitely enjoyed Sea of Stars! Amy Bartol has never steered me wrong!
Sea of Stars was filled with all the wonderful things I wanted it to be filled with! Especially when it came to the Trey-Kricket romance! There were so many fantastic moments between them in this book, it was everything I wanted their relationship to become in the first book now made real! Get ready for some swooning ladies! The action was most certainly nonstop, even though there really wasn’t a ton of movement toward the main plot overall. However, the action sequences and the back and forth between Kricket and Kyon and everyone else and their mother who was after her in this book were definitely enough to keep me entertained throughout.
New characters and secrets are revealed in Sea of Stars that will leave you questioning what you originally thought to be true in the first book, and that made the content all the more intriguing! By the time the ending rolled around, the intensity was abound and I was forced to come to the sad conclusion that there were not enough pages left to see the current conflict through to the finish! Therefore folks, I am in desperate need for book three!! Hate to break it to all you Kricket fans, but the third book titled Darken the Stars doesn’t come out until September 8th!! Le sigh!! So until then, brush up on the series, and definitely read book two!! If you are already a fan, trust me, you don’t want to miss this sequel!!
Buy Sea of Stars on Amazon here! And be sure to pre-order book three ( I did as soon as I finished it)!!
