Review: Stone Cold Touch (Dark Elements #2) by Jennifer Armentrout

Goodreads Summary:

Every touch has its price

Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old who’s pretty sure things can’t get worse. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.

But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay…

My Review

Well Stone Cold Touch had everything a Jennifer Armentrout book has! The romantic struggle, the witty banter, the jaw dropping plot twists. Stone Cold Touch had me completely hooked!

After a TERRIBLE cliff hanger at the end of White Hot Kiss, I was more than ready to read this book, and Stone Cold Touch most certainly did not disappoint! However, it delivered in quite the unexpected way that had my heart feeling all sorts of unanticipated emotions. Obviously from the description we know that Roth comes back of course, he HAD to!! However, things are not the way they were before, much to my extreme aggravation!!

With Roth “changed” and a new mysterious enemy on the rise, Layla finds herself growing ever closer to Zayne, and feelings are brought to the surface. Soon, things become pretty heated between the two of them, which had me feeling all kinds of confused. I mean I’m Team Roth all the way, but there were some scenes in this book that had me doubting how I felt about a relationship between Zayne and Layla. Don’t get me wrong Zayne is definitely steamy and brings his own awesome to the table, but I still just had to remind myself that he isn’t right for Layla. Of course by the ending, I was more than reaffirmed in my beliefs for Roth’s true feelings toward Layla and it made my heart soar!

Speaking of the ending….WHAT AN ENDING?! Holy crap it was crazy!! So much was thrown at me, I didn’t know how to react! There was action, plot twists,  heart break, and “heart make” (make of that what you will). All I can tell you is that it was intense and beautiful all at the same time, and right when I thought everything was going to be made known, BAM! a HUGE cliffhanger was thrown at me once again!!! The ending was so abrupt, I had to do a double take when I swiped my Kindle and saw that the next page was the Acknowledgments! The ending was just flat out mean, and now I NEED more, like ASAP!

Stone Cold Touch was thrilling in every way, and though I would have liked a little less Zayne time, and a little more full on Roth time, I still really enjoyed this book, and cannot wait to read the next installment! Don’t miss out on this series, especially if you are a Jennifer Armentrout fan, these books are most definitely worth reading!
