Axelia fought an army of vampires and survived. Once fated as the destroyer of the vampire race, she is now welcomed into the immortal empire and revered as a god.
But instead of relishing her victory, she faces a dangerous new world and an empire at war. Axelia is thrust into the position of supreme vampire and caught in the crossfire of battle. To make matters worse, her role alienates Lucas, the one vampire that she trusts.
Her choices have brutal consequences and her power spawns evil enemies. And they know how to get to her — by hurting those whom she loves most.
Bestselling author Wynne Channing’s highly-anticipated sequel to What Kills Me is another heart-pounding thrill ride filled with stunning twists, tragic betrayal and bloody action.
I Am Forever picked up right where What Kills Me left off: Axelia had just narrowly escaped a brutal death when the vampires discovered that she is (according to prophecy) the Divine meaning that if she is so much as scratched, every vampire in existence will be hurt as well. She dies, they all die! Not so high on the hit list now huh?
Now that the vampires, especially the Empress are playing kiss up to Axelia, everything seems peachy, but things are far from it. In fact the goody two-shoe vampires were really pretty annoying to read about, and I wanted to yell at Axelia “are you really gonna buy this crap?” They praised the very ground she walked on, and the only vampire who really seemed to see through their lies was Lucas (thank goodness). Of course, this put quite the strain on their relationship for the majority of the book which was depressing overall. I so badly wanted to see things work out between them, but as Axelia gets forced further into the Monarchy she also becomes further pulled from Lucas.
Though there wasn’t a whole lot of plot movement in book two, Channing still found a way to throw in action right when I needed it! Things got heated once Axelia found the truth behind the deceit the Monarchy was bathed in. Her relationship with Lucas followed suit by taking a turn for the better, which I was oh so pleased about! Those two are adorable, though I will say that I definitely did not get any steamy moments that were much needed after a first book of little to no romantic progression, so that was a little disappointing. The climax of the book though was fantastic! It was just enough action, gore, and suspense to have me craving more. Axelia proved herself to be one badass Divine vampire!
Overall, I enjoyed I Am Forever, and was satisfied with the ending of the book! I am still in the process of discovering if there will be a book three, because there is definitely the potential for more! The sequel didn’t necessarily end with a cliff hanger, but I could see there being more to Axelia’s story.
