Review: Deity (Covenant #3) by Jennifer Armentrout

Fire flower

Goodreads Summary:

“History is on repeat, and things didn’t go so well the last time. “
Alexandria isn’t sure she’s going to make it to her eighteenth birthday–to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she’s a goner… and so is Aiden.

If that’s not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time “training”–which really is just Seth’s code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time–she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she’s caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed… and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate…

My Review

Jennifer Armentrout never fails to disappoint! Deity brought forth more plot twists than ever before!  As Alex’s Awakening gets ever closer the stakes become higher, secrets are revealed, and the devastating truth brings forth decisions Alex never thought she would be forced to make.

Deity was filled with heart stopping moments that had me gasping out loud all over the place! Just when I thought everything had calmed down BANG something huge would hit and I would be consumed by the story once more! Alex continued to be a strong female lead with so much gumption that you can’t help but admire her! As the plot thickened and the danger grew stronger, she never backed down and was always more than willing to sacrifice herself for the ones she loves.

Then we come to the insanity that was the romance in this book! DANG! JUST DANG!! Ya know how I was really conflicted over my romantic preference in the last book? Well I’m definitely certain about it now! Holy crap! Let’s just say the events that play out during this book leave no room for confliction over who Alex should be with! The true character of one of the two males (Seth and Aiden) is revealed and it is both shocking and horrifying and yet, I was relieved that JLA decided for me, and I am SO okay with who she chose! Alex’s final choice led to many “squee” moments  that I was so waiting for in this book. It made the entire romantic struggle worth it!

By the time Deity ended, everything came to a head and I was left with the quite the cliffhanger! A heartbreaking cliffhanger I might add. I cannot wait to read the next book and find out  what happens next! But first I’ve decided I’m just going to have to read the novella: Elixir that’s from Aiden’s point of view in order to truly appreciate what happens next! I would definitely recommend you continuing your Covenant  journey and read Deity!
