In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.
Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who’s only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.
When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.
Cress made for a wonderful addition to The Lunar Chronicles. A whole new point of view is introduced, can you guess? Cress of course; the secluded satellite prisoner of seven years whom you will find out, has already played a huge role in the lives of Cinder and her friends. However, her story becomes even more significant and very intriguing as events unfold in book three. And once again Marissa Meyer utilized multiple points of views beautifully in a way that made the story, for the most part, a constant thrill.
I say “for the most part,” because Cress seemed to have a few lull parts that the first two books didn’t, though that might have been because I have been so busy that it took me over a week to read it, however, it was still a very enjoyable read! And did I forget to mention that a new romance unfolds! I won’t say between whom, but you will find out soon enough. What I will say, is that Meyer found a way to squeeze in these wonderfully heart stopping scenes in the midst of despair that just make you gasp because you didn’t realize you were holding your breath (this really happened to me). Cress just had these moments of such intensity and suspense that had me reeling at the content throughout.
When Cress came to close I was so upset that I was left with just the “Acknowledgments” on the next page because I knew that soo much more needed to happen! So, naturally, I am more than ready for the next book! Unfortunately, book four titled Winter won’t be out until November 10th, 2015!! That is going to be one heck of a wait folks! I might slowly shrivel away by then, but maybe Goodreads lied or Meyer will release it early, only time will tell! Until then, I definitely recommend you continue your journey with The Lunar Chronicles and read Cress!!
