Book Description:

One choice away from eternity…

For 911 years, Gatekeeper companion Justin Bradford has denied the possibility of being mated to only one woman. He enjoys them all too much to settle down. So when he feels his mate’s Ahavah mark surface, his first instinct is to ignore it. But when he sees the leather-clad beauty in need of his help that’s easier said than done…

Yvonne wakes up naked on a cold park bench in a small town with no memory of who—or what—she is. All she knows is the gentle man who woke her was turned to dust when she touched him. And now the strange mark that appeared on her shoulder throbs in the presence of the raven-haired man now offering to help her…

As Justin and Yvonne navigate the mystery of her past, their bond grows, but the secrets they discover and the sacrifices that must be made could be enough to rip them apart for eternity.

My Review

Marked by Hades brought about a whole new romance through the eyes of Theo’s brother/companion Justin and Yvonne/Dyre the human-demon. Yvonne has a deadly touch that sets her apart from all other creatures and creates many enemies. Justin in turn struggles to understand his attraction especially since he has sworn off ever having a mate! Their relationship is tumultuous and powerful and both of them must come to terms with their sudden onset of feelings for one another.

As the two of them begin to fall in love, they soon realized that hell will stop at nothing from breaking them apart. A game of cat and mouse then ensues, a game that was almost a little too repetitive for me, it was basically capture, fight, escape, and then get found out, fight, and escape all over again. Sure there were plenty of spurts of action between demons and Justin, Theo, Sadie and gang but they were short lived and sometimes anticlimactic, making the story a little difficult to get through. However, I did admire the love Justin and Yvonne developed; it was all consuming and selfless through and through. Even when things seemed like they couldn’t get any worse, they still believed that they were strong enough to defeat  and overcome any obstacle that stood in their way from being together.

Marked by Hades is a romantically endearing story that was just intriguing enough to see through to the end. My main stipulation was that the action/plot movement didn’t compliment the romance in a way that made me fully engaged with the characters.
