Review: Deep Kiss of Winter by Kresely Cole & Gena Showalter

Goodreads Description:

Kresley Cole – Untouchable (Immortals After Dark #8)

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR KRESLEY COLE delivers a breathtaking tale of a brutal vampire soldier about to know love for the first time… and a Valkyrie aching for his touch.

Murdoch Wroth will stop at nothing to claim Daniela – the delicate Valkyrie who makes his heart beat for the first time in three hundred years. Yet the exquisite Danii is part ice fey, and her freezing skin can’t be touched by anyone but her own kind without inflicting pain beyond measure. Can they conquer an agony of frustration and slake the overwhelming desire burning between them?

Gena Showalter – Tempt Me Eternally (Alien Huntress #4.5)

NEW YORK TIMES AND USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR GENA SHOWALTER puts a daring spin on a tale of huntress and hunted… and concocts a sensual chemistry that is positively explosive.

With only skin-to-skin contact, Aleaha Love can change her appearance, assume any identity. Now she’s an AIR (Alien Investigation and Removal) agent on a mission to capture a group of otherworldly warriors. Only she is held captive when dangerously seductive Breean, a golden-skinned, iron-willed commander, threatens her new life – and for the first time, Aleaha wants only to be herself.

My Review: Untouchable by Kresley Cole

Untouchable contained a unique story line filled with different paranormal beings I had never encountered before. Once again I commend Kresley Cole for her ingenuity in her writing, she always finds a way to bring about something new and exciting to her writing.

The romance in Untouchable was everything you could hope for, it was angst filled, steamy, powerful, and all consuming. But it was not without its fair share of problems. Daniela and Murdoch go through many ups and downs before finally relinquishing any doubts and letting their feelings overcome them. I loved seeing the struggle between the two, because it was all the better when they finally came together at last.

One thing I was not a big fan of in this book was the way the plot progressed. It was very jumpy, and tended to suddenly move forward all of the sudden with what I thought was supposed to be a major conflict. It seemed like the plot events surrounding Daniela and Murdoch were not as significant as they were originally made out to be. I would have liked to have actually seen them played out rather than just casually mentioned during the story.

Overall, Untouchable was an enjoyable read for its unique concept and heart wrenching/toe curling romance between Daniela and Murdoch.

My Review: Tempt Me Eternally by Gena Showalter

Though I am a HUGE  fan of Gena Showalter for her White Rabbit Chronicles books, I was not a big fan of her story in Deep Kiss of Winter.

I was really looking forward to reading Tempt Me Eternally after reading the plot description. I mean a weird alien romance? I’m SO in, especially since I’m so in love with the Lux Series by Jennifer Armentrout, I was really open minded to this book. However, it just didn’t deliver.

First of all, the romance in this book picked up instantly, to the point where it was almost annoying with how quickly the two characters: Aleaha and Breean seemed to love each other and wanted to instantly have sex and that would be that. I was much more eager to see how their relationship would evolve around the plot that was set up from the beginning.  However, the plot never really moved, it seemed completely stuck on Aleaha and Breean arguing over the AIR prisoners Breean was holding and Aleaha trying to resist her crazy attraction to Breean and stop him from  getting with her.  The plot was so splotchy, that by the time the final events did roll around, they felt rushed and played out almost too perfectly.

So sure Tempt Me Eternally was pretty steamy (almost to the point where that was all you were reading) and had a different concept for sure, but it did not make for a satisfying read.

I would at least read Deep Kiss of Winter for Untouchable by Kresley Cole, you can buy it on Amazon here or anywhere else that sells books!
