Guest Review by Kirsten: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel Series by Michael Scott

Goodreads Synopsis of Book #1 The Alchemyst:

Nicholas Flamel was born in Paris on 28 September 1330. Nearly seven hundred years later, he is acknowledged as the greatest Alchemyst of his day. It is said that he discovered the secret of eternal life. The records show that he died in 1418. But his tomb is empty and Nicholas Flamel lives. The secret of eternal life is hidden within the book he protects – the Book of Abraham the Mage. It’s the most powerful book that has ever existed. In the wrong hands, it will destroy the world. And that’s exactly what Dr. John Dee plans to do when he steals it. Humankind won’t know what’s happening until it’s too late. And if the prophecy is right, Sophie and Josh Newman are the only ones with the power to save the world as we know it. Sometimes legends are true. And Sophie and Josh Newman are about to find themselves in the middle of the greatest legend of all time.

Hey my good friend Kirsten is back for another review! Whoop whoop! Thanks so much Kirsten for writing!

Kirsten’s Review of the Series

Hi, it’s Kirsten here doing my second blog post. I am here to review the Series of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel. This series is about twins Josh and Sophie Mercer who were normal until they witnessed Nicholas Flamel and John Dee fighting with magic over the Codex, which is how Nicholas and his wife Perenelle stay immortal.

These books do start out a bit slow, number one is not as action packed as the rest, but give them a chance because they only get better. The mythological aspect of these books is fantastic and there are several Gods and Goddesses and mythological creatures. Several old myths are included in the books with a modern twist and many myths are mixed together in a way they originally weren’t. If you liked books such as Percy Jackson or the Kane Chronicles, you will love these books.

Each book ends with a frustrating cliffhanger that will leave you needing to read the next book to find out what happens. The books have interesting plot twists that cannot be predicted; especially the last book. The ending of the series was so insane, it made me love the series so much more.

His writing style was also very interesting and made the books easy to read. The books aren’t difficult so they go fast and I completely recommend them to anyone who asks me for a new series.
