Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.
After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.
All Katy can do is survive.
Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?
Together, they can face anything.
But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?
And will they even be together?
Hey it’s Brigit and Grace, seeing as our last review together was on The Lux Series we felt it was only fitting that we review Origin together as well.
Jennifer Armentrout has once again amazed us and blown us away, then again we never doubted her abilities. Origin was a game changer for the entire series, and the most suspenseful and romantic one yet! Daemon and Katy’s all consuming love was brought to a whole new level as they were faced with imminent peril around every corner. The continuous action and heart wrenching moments rivaled even the greatest action movies we’ve seen and we are very well rounded in the action movie department! Throughout the book the humorous dialogue and witty banter kept the story entertaining, so much so it was hard to tell if we were crying from joy or from pain, there was literally that much emotion pouring out of this book!
*****SPOILER ALERT, IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE PAST THREE BOOKS IN THIS SERIES DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER***
At the end of Opal (Lux #3) the cliff hanger had left us breathless and not the good kind either. Katy being captured was the sort of ending that left us screaming into the abyss at the injustice of the world!! On the other hand it left us in dire need for the next book. With the release of Origin, there were no bounds to our joy! We couldn’t wait to experience Daemon’s ruthless rampage against Daedalus to rescue his kitten. And boy did we get the full Daemon package 😉 because Origin was the first Lux book to EVER have his point of view! This allowed us to see the softer side of Daemon *sigh* along with the true inner-workings of Daemon Black’s mind which was just beautiful/sexy all around. His hilarious and endearing comments prompt us to believe that he didn’t work for cocky, cocky worked for him. Both the views of Daemon and Katy added to the raw emotion in the book and let the reader really connect to the characters through each jaw dropping scene.
The romance in Origin evolved and blossomed into a beautiful butterfly 😀 . Our hearts broke and melted all at the same time as we took the journey on the emotional rollarcoaster this book brought us on. Daemon and Katy shared the sweetest moments that only made their love stronger, and they needed all the strength they could get to face new and monstrous enemies. Unexpected developments occur with Daedalus that leave you questioning everything you’ve read in the past books. New friendships are formed with unlikely allies and old friendships are broken with unforeseen adversaries, all in all making for an uncertain tomorrow. By the end of the book, not only the fate of the Black family hangs in the balance but the fate of the world does too!
We absolutely love The Lux Series, and Origin makes for a welcomed addition to the series. We most definitely recommend you read this book and if you haven’t read The Lux Series there’s no better time than the present! Now we must embark on the strenuous wait for the fifth and final Lux book titled Opposition out in the Summer of 2014. It will be long and brutal but we are sure that the end will be worth it! You can buy Origin on Amazon here or at Barnes&Nobel, pick up your copy today! So until next time Daemon Black, we may not be reading about you, but you are always in our hearts and minds 😉
